What Tiger Brands looks for in Management Trainee’s – The Bonga Ncwina story

Born and bred in the Eastern Cape, Bonga Ncwina obtained a Bachelor of Technology degree in Marketing from Nelson Mandela University. He joined the Tiger Brand Management Trainee programme in January 2016 where he started in the KOO Brand team and later moved into to the Customer Marketing team. He hit the ground running and got exposed to areas many areas of the business such as data analysis, channel strategies- which would cascade down to Account Plans, New Product Development (NPD) and trade campaign executions. Within two years, Bonga has grown into a fully-fledged Key Account Manager which is testament to the Management Trainee programmes’ accelerated growth plan in effect.

Bonga says that the opportunity to rotate within different functions within the organisation has helped him get a clearer business understanding and to define his career path given the exposure that he has had.

As far as Bonga is concerned, there is a no ceiling in life, he appreciates the opportunity that Tiger Brands has offered him and is making the most of it. He hopes to inspire other graduates to join the Management Trainee Programme and be truly enriched while plotting their career path. He advices s that each person needs to plan and manage their own career development while ensuring  that they use the structures available to them to make the most of every opportunity.
